Church Planting in Costa Pájaros, Puntarenas
On Saturday we traveled with our Tico pastor, Moises Compos, his wife, Mari, and son, David, along with his brother, Mario, to a small village in the district of Puntarenas on the Golfo de Nicoya. The purpose of the trip, to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of the church plant in Pájaros. We left early in the morning and began our drive of about 3 hours. We made a few stops along the way so that Mari could buy some fresh vegetables and bread to prepare lunch later that day. The drive was beautiful but quite warm. Once we arrived, we sat out on the porch of the small home/store and visited with family members of our friends. We walked down to the beach where there were many fishing boats on the beach and anchored in the water. Fishing is the main source of income for the people in this small village. It was obvious from the surroundings that they did not make much money.
As we walked along the shore and saw the many fishing nets lying along the bank, I thought of Jesus walking along the Sea of Galilee, bidding His followers to drop their nets and follow Him. I was quickly reminded of how much our Father in heaven has given to us and that we need to be willing to drop our "nets", take up our cross, and follow Him. We traveled this day to be an encouragement to our new friends, but found out in the end we were the ones who came away so encouraged. As we drove home, we listened to our sweet brothers and sisters in Christ sing hymn after hymn in Spanish. We are truly developing a strong bond and growing affection for our new family in Christ!
Yours in Christ,
Tricia
Moving Day
I've taken my bride many places. Most of the time these moves would have been disasters without her loving touch.
